Cajones: Getting Some!

This past year kicked my ass. I went through one doctor after another trying to make my legs and feet stop buzzing and aching. I went through deep depression as my life crumbled around me. I gathered my wits and climbed out of the worst economic hardships I’ve ever faced through sheer guts and determination. Through it all, I lean on dreams and use positive visualizations to confirm my belief in this Universe that takes care of us all. My reward is a new life with new wonderful opportunities that I am overwhelmed by. They are presenting themselves to me and I’m ready to receive them, ready to step up to my next set of life’s lessons, however daunting they seem. As I turn 46 I am eager to see where life takes me next… A sneak preview: One last bit of closure regarding Ursela D and her old band mates is about to surface in a major way. High hopes for an ethical, sensitive spin on a difficult subject that deserves a fresh perspective. Details to come. Also an incredible phone interview went well for a creative position that would take me to terrific new heights in my career. Meanwhile, school is looming, a degree hangs in the balance and I’m finally caught up with the rent after six months of hanging on by a thread and a prayer. Summer ditched us and all I got was this lousy farmer’s tan, yet I couldn’t be any more thrilled to sport a skin color besides ivory.

Shooting Stars Never Stop…

Been a long time since this sad goodbye to Music Millennium’s NW 23rd location.

KUPL recently caught up with Ruby Red , here’s what they had to say on kupl.com:

Ruby Red began with Robin Brantley (lead vocals/rhythm guitar) & her husband Dave Brantley (vocals) as a duo in 2000, then grew to six members by 2003. Robin, Dave & Mark Horn (keys/vocals) remain of the six and continue to showcase their creativity, great songwriting, and rich vocal harmonies in all their works. Ruby Red has shared the stage with many legendary performers, including Eddie Money, Eric Burdon and a sold out KUPL sponsored show with American Idol’s Josh Gracin.

Roads End Films, a Northwest film company, has placed two of the band’s songs in a film due for 2011 release titled, From Kilimanjaro With Love. In addition, Roads End Films will be shooting a music video for the band’s new single, About You, featuring Anthony Jones on drums, David Captein on bass, Kevin Nettleingham on lead guitar and Helen Duewel on flute (recorded at Nettleingham Audio).

Ruby Red’s exciting crossover music which has been featured on both KINK and KUPL NW radio is proving to be a sought after sound as evidenced by interest from film and TV production companies alike. The band has several projects on deck in this exciting arena and looks forward to yet another successful year in the music business.
